One of the reasons we ask for knowledgeable homes for Labrador puppies is because they can be high maintenance in the early years, unless you know what to expect. Neglect in this area often leads to unruly pets that are a nightmare rather than a joy to own.

Labrador puppies are notorious for chewing, which can go on till they are about two years old. Although not normally aggresive they can be livley and boistrous, jumping up for attention, which is fine if you know the dog, but frightening for strangers who don't. They can be the ruination of a pair of slippers, shoes, or wreck a lounge or kitchen, in no time flat, when left unattended or bored.

Labradors do need regular exercise, but in the early years this should be kept to a minimum until bones develop and muscles grow strong. After that they need daily walks and play.

We are not the experts, there are plenty of those on the Internet - take time to look them up.
